Company documents for use overseas

For businesses dealing with overseas banks, buyers, suppliers and registries.

What we notarise for companies

  • signatures of directors and secretaries on contracts, resolutions and powers of attorney;
  • certified copies of ASIC extracts, constitutions, registers and resolutions;
  • certificates of good standing of an Australian company;
  • certificates on a point of Australian law, where an overseas body asks for one.

Who can sign

The notary confirms the identity of the person signing and, where the overseas body asks, their authority to sign for the company. Bring a current ASIC extract and the constitution or a board resolution authorising you, or the power of attorney you sign under.

Apostille and authentication

Company documents for Convention countries go to DFAT for an apostille after notarising. Where the country is not a Convention member (the United Arab Emirates is one), DFAT authenticates the document and the embassy then legalises it, so allow extra time.

Timing

Allow time for us to check the documents before the appointment, and for DFAT and any embassy afterwards. Mention your deadline in your first email.
