What to bring to your notary appointment
A little preparation avoids a second visit.
Everyone
- The document, unsigned. The signing happens at the appointment, in the notary’s presence. The notarial certificate is completed afterwards.
- Originals, not scans or photos. A notary can certify a copy only after inspecting the original.
- Photo identification: your current passport or Australian driver licence.
- The instructions from overseas: the letter or email from the bank, court or office that asked for the document, including any form it wants used.
- Your deadline, if there is one.
If you are signing for a company
- a current ASIC company extract;
- proof of your authority to sign: for example the company’s constitution, a directors’ resolution, or the power of attorney you act under.
If you are signing for someone else
- the power of attorney or other document that authorises you;
- your own identification.
Names and details
The name on the document should match your identification. If it does not, for example after marriage, bring the document that links the two names, such as a marriage certificate.
Language
Appointments can be held in English or Polish. If you are more comfortable in another language, bring an interpreter. The notary must be satisfied that you understand what you are signing, and any oath or affirmation you make.
Before you book
Email the documents to us first. We check them and send a quote, which keeps the appointment itself short. Book an appointment
